Multimodal refers to people or goods moving from one point to another using more than one mode of transportation (e.g. bike to bus, or rail to truck). Occasionally, this term is confused with “intermodal,” which describes facilities where people or goods transfer from one mode to another. Multimodal systems allow for better connectivity and improve regionals transportation as a whole.
